Outkast

One of Weston's new/cute/annoying habits is to make song requests. His parents have realized that in this ipod age, our child will not grow up having the concept "you can only listen to one of the 6 songs being played on the 6 radio stations programmed in the car radio." So he frequently makes requests.

Some examples:
Li-a-mine ("This Little Light of Mine")
Mountain ("She'll be Comin' 'Round the Mountain")
Lolly song ("Hey Lolly")
Si-Nine ("789" off of Bare Naked Ladies Snacktime)
Mu-mul Bush ("Here We Go 'Round the Mulberry Bush")

Last Monday was the Winter Festival at Weston's preschool. All the classes and parents were going to form a circle on the playground to sing Jingle Bells. Before the program, in Weston's classroom, one of his friends was already shaking her jingle bells and singing. The following scene played out:

Friend C: Jingle bells, Jingle Bells (shakes jingle bells)
Weston: (smiles devilishly) "Hey Ya Song!"
Mommy: (laughs) I don't think Friend C knows that song.
Teachers: (look confused)
Mommy: You know that Outkast song? Hey Ya?
Teachers: (laughing)
Mommy: There's also a an acoustic version that my husband plays on the guitar.

Right, like that makes it ok that your kid requests Outkast.
